Dolan - eager to get on the field for the Gunners

Fighting Heitingas Football Club first team players and manager held a press conference today at the club's WWJHD Training Facility. The past 24 hours have been a firestorm of activity around the club as rumors have been swirling that goalkeeper Mike Dolan will be joining Arsenal on emergency loan until the end of the season.

Manager Matt Partain was quick to address the Dolan-Arsenal link.

"We have been in communication with David Dein and the Arsenal front office for quite some time, " Partain said. "They have been looking into Michael for years and have contacted us several times with offers, none of which we ever really considered serious. They were certainly missing a few zeros from their offers."

"With our season already complete, we feel now is the correct time to pursue a potential loan for Mike."

The media has learned that the move would only be a temporary loan until the season's end at which time Dolan would return stateside.

When other First team players were probed about the move, all were enthusiastic about Dolan's opportunity to ply his trade in England's top flight.

"I think he will be a success over there," one semi-balding FHFC player said. "It's a great opportunity to showcase himself on a world stage."

"Even though we're at the best club in the world, we're always about helping the less fortunate," defensive rock Terry Mulligan said. "I help AIDS orphans in Africa learn to read in English, Dolan helps Arsenal with their goalkeeping."

Partain also threw a twist to the press conference when he announced that defensive midfielder Lysol Hammerstein might also be joining the Gunners.

"We are exploring the possibility of sending The Hammer over as well," Partain said. "Frankly, we think it would help Dolan settle quickly into the English game if another member of FHFC went with him on loan. Not to mention, the players at Arsenal would learn a thing or two from their skills and work ethic."

Arsenal's defensive spine has been considered extremely fragile this season with Thomas Vermaelen out indefinitely with a lingering calf injury, Laurent Koscielny's form on a steady slope downward, and Sebastien Squillaci showing the defensive abilities of a squid in a Japanese fish market, Arsene Wenger has been desperate to bring some needed steel to his squad.

Hammerstein's ability to destroy opposing team's attacks and tremendous vision to build play has seen him being brought into the loan talk as a stand-in center back for the Gunners. Not to mention, his tackling has been described by pundits as the best in the world.

"The loans are basically done deals," said Partain. "I won't say they're in the bank, but right now it's a matter of signing at the dotted line and shaking hands."

Partain also dropped a hint that FHFC will pursue transfer targets at Arsenal in the future. With the club being linked to Arsenal's club captain Cesc Fabregas over the past few years, Partain appeared to be working to create a bridge to bring the Catalonian to the Stadio de Heitinga.

"Essentially, we'll scratch Arsenal's back this time, and in the future, they'll scratch ours," Partain said.

Dolan was overjoyed to have the chance to lace up for Arsenal.

"If we can make that happen," Dolan said, "Then I'm taking my talents to north London."

Arsenal's season is again teetering on the edge of failure. The Gunners, once potentially on course for a four trophy haul this season, have run on hard times in recent weeks.

Arsenal players have always seemed more prone than most when it comes to injuries and this season is no different. Specifically, injuries to their goalkeeping staff have reached epic proportions as Lukasz Fabianski, Vito Mannone, Manuel Almunia, and Wojciech Szczesny all are on the trainer’s table.

This has forced Arsene Wenger’s hand to recall former goalkeeper and all-around lunatic Jens Lehmann back to the club. Lehmann was lucky this weekend to avoid an obvious red card for his challenge on Blackpool striker D.J. Campbell during his side’s 3-1 victory at Bloomfield Road.

With Almunia pulling up lame in the warm up to the game, Wenger was set to use striker Robin Van Persie as back up to Lehmann, should the German lose the plot again.

However, that looks to be one-time occurrence as Wenger, long over reliant on goalkeepers that have time and again come up short for his club, is set to ask the FA for an emergency loan to try and sign a keeper of real quality in FHFC star Mike Dolan.

Dolan has been regarded as one of the world’s top keepers since his breakout year for FHFC back in 2006 and his signing would be a coup d’etat for the Gunners, who trail Manchester United by 7 points in the race for the Premiership.

“It is no lie that I have long admired Dolan,” Wenger said. “I only wish I could sign him, but I would have to pay for his full value, which everyone knows I never do for any world-class player.”

“I only hope that the FA will allow this second emergency signing for us,” Wenger continued. “It is obvious by their ruling on Wayne Rooney’s swearing incident that they are trying to do whatever they can to not let United win the Premiership. Therefore, there should be no reason this loan should not work out.”

Lehmann however, was less enthusiastic about Dolan joining the north London club.

“Dolan is a very good goalkeeper, but he is not up to my quality,” the ever-confident Lehmann said. “I see his move to Arsenal as a threat to my place in the side. If it happens, I’ll probably poop in his gloves the first chance I get. That will show him.”

FHFC has announced that the club will hold a media conference tomorrow to discuss the loan. FHFC squad members and Manager Matt Partain will be present.

After Real Madrid plundered the summer transfer market and filled the dressing room with new stars, it's now time for the Spanish club to prune their squad down. With the season kicking off in a week's time the Dutch contingent are being pushed out of the door.

The 'Galáctico 2.0' project of Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez filled the headlines across the world with the arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kakà, Xabi Alonso and Karim Benzema, followed by lesser lights Raúl Albiol, Álvaro Arbeloa, Esteban Granero, Ezequiel Garay and Álvaro Negredo. Now he has to reduce the Merengue multitude to a comfortable amount for coach Manuel Pellegrini.

"It's now time to let people out before people come in," as the general secretary at Real, Jorge Valdano, put it. However, it's proving a tougher task to let go of some of their players than it was to sign four of the best footballers in Europe earlier this summer. During the last couple of seasons, it was the Dutch who grabbed the limelight at the Santiago Bernabéu. Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder and Royston Drenthe joined the Spanish club in 2007 and formed a new Dutch quartet alongside Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who signed in 2006, before it became a quintet when Rafael Van Der Vaart signed last summer. After the former Manchester United striker's serious knee injury in November, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was brought in from Ajax.

With a surplus of players and creditors on the horizon, it seems the Madrid club are looking to offload and trim the first-team squad down from its current number of 27. Rumors are swirling that Fighting Heitingas Football Club are in hot pursuit of both Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Wesley Sneijder.

"It's no surprise we're interested in these two players," said manager Matt Partain. "Both Wesley and Ruud are world-class talents that would increase the confidence and ability of any squad. We are pursuing their signatures but there must be an agreement between clubs and players."

Even though Pellegrini is skeptical to sell some of the club's Dutch contingent, his hand may be forced by the board who have seen the club budget dive into the red-the result of some expensive summer signings.

"A lot of people may think that all the Dutch players will leave Madrid, but that's not true, especially when it comes to Sneijder, a player that is very useful for the team", said Pellegrini. "However, if Mr. Perez and other clubs agree and the player wants to go, I must let him."

Although FHFC already has a squad to rival both Barcelona and Real Madrid in terms of attacking and midfield talent, Partain is still looking to add and tinker with his squad ahead of a long season with the promise of several trophies.

"We have the talent to be successful as we are," said Partain. "However, everyone knows how long and challenging a campaign can be. I think if we were to add another midfield and striker we would be a complete squad."

Despite Van Nistelrooy's situation being different to that of his colleagues as he's still recovering from a knee injury, the striker made a point of telling them to leave Madrid. "My colleagues and I have great objectives and one of them is to make it to the 2010 World Cup. If we get an offer from an important club like FHFC, then it is best we should accept".

Solomon set to miss start of season

Fighting Heitingas Football Club star striker Ryan Solomon will miss the start of the coming season.

Solomon: Sustained calf injury.

Solomon has been ruled out of the preseason friendly against Barcelona this Saturday and the the next three weeks after straining his calf.

Thankfully, Manager Matt Partain has two fit strikers in Tim Taylor and Paul Karnstedt, although both have had a history of injuries.

Partain said, "Ryan does not have a long-term injury. I would expect him to be back in training in about three weeks time. We know Ryan has had only a few injuries before. We are being cautious because he is important to the team's success."

"He pulled his calf in the warm-up in training. He looked to be dehydrated before training started so that's probably what did it."

Solomon has known to be quite the play boy and that life-style could have contributed to his recent injury.

"When a person spends their nights carrying around super models their legs take a lot of stress," said midfielder Mike . "In Ryan's case, it was just one supermodel too many."

"Ryan lives as large as he possibly can," said defensive rock Terry Mulligan. "His presence on the training pitch is as big as it is in the clubs so he will be missed. I do enjoy going out with him on the weekends as he's a great friend outside the facilities. Thankfully, we can still do that."

PJS Signs For FHFC

In certainly the coup of the summer, Park Ji Sung has made the switch from Manchester United to Fighting Heitingas Football Club after both clubs reached an agreement on terms last night.

PJS flew into Chicago yesterday to meet with FHFC club officials and undergo a medical. Reports are in that he passed with flying colors and has put pen to paper.

"We're delighted with this fantastic new chapter in our club's illustrious history," said manager Matt Partain. "PJS not only brings us pace and leadership but also a selflessness and professional attitude that our academy players will learn from."

The courtship of PJS was relatively short once transfer funds came into play.

"When formal discussions began it was obvious FHFC was committed to purchasing [PJS]," said chief executive David Gill. "When we weighed our options, from a financial standpoint, it was a no-brainer. However, it was important that both the manager and the player were comfortable with the decision."

It is understood that PJS, an avid fan of FHFC, was more than ready to trade the Theatre of Dreams for the Stadio de Heitinga.

"It's no secret that I have long admired the way FHFC plays football and runs their club," said PJS. "When I found out they were interested in me my heart jumped and I didn't believe it was true. I then got a call on my mobile from Matt Partain and I knew this was something I had to pursue."

While no official news of the transfer cost has been released, it is believed to be in the region of £145 million ($244 million) making PJS the most expensive transfer in history.

He joins a club already bursting with world talents such as goalkeeper Mike Dolan, defender Terry Mulligan, midfielder Sean Suarez and striker Paul Karnstedt. However, the signing gives manager Matt Partain a more balanced squad with talent in all areas of the pitch.

FHFC players are already hailing the signing of Park.

"This is a terrific moment for the club," said midfield maestro Shaun Cepican. "Players are excited and cannot wait for Park to start training with us. We have a few preseason friendlies coming up soon."

"I see only good things coming from this," said striker Paul Karnstedt. "I've watched him play many times for Manchester United and am impressed by his athleticism and football IQ. The management payed a lot for him but he really adds to this squad."

"I can't wait for the first session and match," said Park. "It's been a dream of mine since I was a child to wear the Fighting Heitingas Football Club kit and it has now become a reality. I'd like to thank my old club and supporters but now I'm on to the best of both."

Outside Influence in the PJS Transfer?

Questions have come about as to where FHFC got the funds to acquire the Korean international after this morning's stratospheric bid. While the American club remains one of the wealthiest in the world, reports are suggesting that an anonymous donor gave the club the money solely for the purpose of picking up Park Ji Sung.

Widely regarded as the world's top footballing talent right now and heads on favorite for the Ballon D'Or, the normally reserved Park Ji Sung has been thrown into the lime-light with this suddenly fervent transfer talk.

"While I do not wish to speak out of line, I must acknowledge there has been an offer with regards to my client," said PJS's agent, Moo Shoo Bankok. "It is best that we do not discuss this situation until both clubs have had ample time to talk."

However, Manager Matt Partain was quite quick to once again stir up the flames.

"PJS is a player that I have watched for many years," said Partain. "He is a close acquaintance and fan of FHFC. I will not hide the club's admiration for his style of play and personality. His transfer would provide us pound for pound the best player on the planet right now, as well as other benefits to the fans and club."

FHFCs analysts project that the increased revenue from jersey sales will more than make up for the large 150 million pound sterling fee within two years, as every Korean citizen and Korean abroad will purchase a replica kit.

"FHFC has been looking for a while to claim a foothold into the Asian continent and PJS gives us a great avenue to pursue," said Partain.

Of course, Sir Alex Ferguson has not been pleased with the recent speculation around his team's talisman.

"I think it's rubbish, said Ferguson. "We have Park under contract until 2013 and are intent on making sure he honors what he signed."

When PJS emerged from The Tasty Dog earlier this afternoon he refused to comment.

In a move that could send shock waves across the footballing world, Fighting Heitingas Football Club has made a surprise bid for Manchester United midfielder and poster boy Park Ji Sung.

The Manchester club will try their best to hold onto the combative midfielder and fan favorite but a £150 million ($255 million) bid from the American giants could be too tempting.

After letting go of the lesser talents of Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, Sir Alex Ferguson will try his best to keep his most consistent and talented player in the red of Man United. However, the club's looming debt in light of the recent economic downturn could force the board to accept the bid.

"We have received a bid from Fighting Heitingas Football Club with regards to Park Ji Sung," said Ferguson. "We know that no one person is larger than the club, however Park is the cornerstone on which we have built our team. While the bid from FHFC is very flattering we will have to assess the benefits and drawbacks of a move and have no further comments at this time."

Ferguson then added, "Rafa Benitez can suck my chuddy."

The old gaffer still has it. Park Ji Sung was unavailable for comment as it was heard that he was eating at the local South Korean Restaurant in Manchester, The Tasty Dog.

Happy belated 2008, FHFC Community!

Due to the extended offseason spurred by the cancellation of last season, there have been several isntances of FHFC players travelling large distances to spend time with teammates.

Just several weekends ago, it is reported that defender Javier Suarez and goalkeeper Mike Doolan travelled from the Quad Cities in Iowa to Champaign, IL to train (and hit the town?) with teammates Paul K, Julian Bulaon, Ken Young, and Shaun Cepican. Additionally, Rambo Nomolos (Ryan Solomon, for those of you who aren't aware) travelled down to Champaign from the Windy City with several die-hard FHFC fans, such as superfan Brian Godar. The group reportedly carbo-loaded (and was allegedly kicked out by a large bouncer) at an International House of Pancakes, attended the popular club Station 211, and were brutally attacked by some fans of the red team (conflicting reports claim they were fans of the whinier, blue team.) Nobody was seriously injured, and all in all, fun was had by all. The players have been low-key about the weekend, only Mike Dolan was available for comment: "2nd and Daniel, never forget."

This upcoming weekend marks another FHFC hallmark. It is rumored that defender Simon Bortz, midfielder Mike , and captain Matthew Partain will be making a similar trip to Champaign, which has become a hub of FHFC activity in recent months since the cancellation.

When reached for comment, one FHFC player, whose name is being withheld for legal reasons, said, "..I've been training to be at Party's level," and "I really hope to get mine this weekend." We here at FHFCs think this is some type of team-based slang, but either way, it appears that the FHFC players have found other activities besides Mario Kart to stay active over the offseason.

FHFC Players Ejected From Games

Terry Mulligan and Simon Bortz are often hailed as the "Bad Boys" of FHFC. Fans and media have already begun calling them the "Bash Brothers" even though the two have yet to play together in an official match. Mulligan, as many of you know, made the transfer to FHFC last April from Spanish side Sevilla. He is hailed as a no nonsense defender and his playing style falls in with the likes of Simon Bortz's controversial "tackle first, ask questions later" tactics.

Recently the two defensive juggernauts have been playing in their own respective university's intramural soccer leagues. Mulligan is playing to bring more press to the program and give normal college students the chance to play with one of the best in the world. Bortz, on the other hand, is playing for different reasons. He told the magazine College Soccer in an interview last fall that he plays intramural soccer "probably just to punish my opponents." While some may question his motives for playing, it can be assumed that all of FHFC nation is in favor of their star players getting extra preparations for the real season.

Terry Mulligan was recently ejected from a game at Missouri for a rough foul on an opponent. As a result, he was banned from the league. His official response was released yesterday with the main part of it being, "In Spain, if a player attempts to insult you like that it is customary to put him down. hard." Just before the interview was over, the broadcast changed to Worcester, Massachusetts and FHFC player/manager Matt Partain adamantly declared that the club would be in full backing of their new defender and would take whatever action required to have the suspension repealed. Partain declared "even though Terry is basically doing charity work and helping others sharpen their own game, a player of his caliber should not be punished for an average foul such as that."

A similar incident occurred for Simon Bortz in his recent intramural soccer match at the University of Indiana. The aftermath of his foul resulted in an expensive hospital bill and a reduced season for the player who got in his way. When asked for comment he simply said "people need to learn to stay off of the train tracks." He wasn't the only person who found the situation humorous either, as the crowd of thousands laughed and jeered as the player was removed from the field via stretcher. FHFC Management posted this official notice yesterday regarding the matter: "People need to understand that FHFC stands for hard nosed, rough and tumble, brute strength defense in combination with fluid, smooth, fast-paced offense. The two compliment each other and make for the unique style that the club is able to call it's own. It is unfortunate for players to have their season's cut short and our condolences go out to the injured players."

How are the fans reacting, you might ask? Longtime FHFC fan Mike Bruno wrote in:

"I think that FHFC just needs to keep doing what they're doing. The team has made it through worse press than these two isolated incidents. I have always been and will always be a staunch supporter of the club. To put it simply, seeing the passion and determination that FHFC players put in to everything they do on and off the pitch just strengthens my loyalty to FHFC. I am excited about the future of the club and I still think it is heading in a very positive direction."

Mourinho to coach FHFC?

There has been a recent flurry of rumors surrounding José Mourinho's recent departure from English club Chelsea FC. Some of the stranger ones include stories of José departing to become a goat farmer in Sri Lanka, or of him leaving to coach his son José Jr.'s youth soccer team, or even of his desire to train to be on the Japanese television program Ninja Warrior.

Putting some of the stranger rumors aside, there are many more regarding the next club he'll lead to victory. Many indications lead to a return to home nation, Portugal, but there is other evidence to suggest a trip across the pond. Here's why it looks this way:

In previous interviews the topic of FHFC has come up often, José has gone on record saying some of the following remarks regarding the American club.

"I think he [Dolan] is easily the top goalkeeper in the world right now. He should be playing for Chelsea and I would do whatever it takes to someday work with him." -2003, in an interview with BBC:Sport.

"I have been tracking Mulligan since his career began at Sevilla, and unfortunately management and I could not reach an agreement to make him and offer for CFC, and we let him slip away to FHFC. I am the best and want to surround myself with the best talent, that will mesh with the club and bring us a European Championship." -Summer of 2007, soccernet.com

"If FHFC one day opts to stray away from having a player-manager, it would be a dream job for any coach. A team such as that has more skill, cohesion, and dedication that only comes around once a century." -Summer of 2007, when confronted about FHFC's success in the transfer window.

Mourinho won four consecutive league titles (two at Porto and two at Chelsea) and also the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Cup with Porto. For two consecutive years (2004 and 2005), Mourinho was named the world's best football coach by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). He is well-known for his self-belief and has at times been a controversial figure.

FHFC President and Captain Matt Partain has just gone on record and released this statement via his personal website.

I think José is a terrific manager. We golf together a few times a year and we always laugh about how I have always thought he should be our manager. He is a very good person and our club has already begun making contact with him about taking the position. I know José will do what is best for his family and for his career, so there will be no hard feelings if he stays in Europe. I would like to take this opportunity to go on record saying that we are not actively seeking someone to fill the role of manager, and that it is on a candidate to candidate basis.

Offseason Report 2007

Hello Folks! It's been quite some time since the staff here at FHFCsoccer has been free and available to keep you up to date with all of the latest news regarding one of the premier football clubs in world as well as one of the premier defensive players in the world.

As many of you know, the 2007 season was postponed due to unruly acts of fan violence and rumors of illegal referee briberies. This came at a large inconvenience to the club as many football journalists and analysts were already slating it as "The Year of FHFC" after their strong surge near the end of last season as well as their success in the transfer markets.

Here is a quick summary of Johnny Heitinga's statistics early in this 2007/08 season:

3 starts in International Friendlies for the Dutch National Team. John has been a leader on the field and off, locking in one goal out of these three matches as well as superior defensive technique.
4 starts for the Dutch Eredivisie side Ajax Amsterdam. Ajax currently sits in 2nd place with 4 games played, 3 of them being wins and 1 being a draw. They have 10 points.
2 starts for Ajax Amsterdam in Champion's League play.

We will also give you a list of what the stars of FHFC are currently keeping themselves occupied with in the offseason.

FHFC Captain and Manager Matt Partain has been keeping busy by taking up a different kind of football. His player information and biography can be found at the website below. (Close up picture seen on that page had to be taken down due to a ridiculously large amount of fanmail wanting to see more of the captain.) He can also be found eating many pork chop sandwiches and rocking out to his favorite music. In response to how his place kicking was helping him for FHFC he replied by telling us that "it is really going to make me a stronger player on the pitch. I will have a lot more confidence in my ability to make a strong tackle when the game is on the line. I will also have no fear of anybody."

Key players Mike Dolan and S. Javier Suarez are currently on loan to the Augustana Men's Soccer Club. To the left is a photo we have received from a die hard FHFC fan who has been following the two players on their team's tour of Italy. One Italian newspaper said of Suarez that "tackles that raw and bone clattering have not been made in Italy since the days of gladiatorial combat" and of Dolan "if that player were Italian born I would start him over Buffon in goal." Needless to say, they're finding their form and hoping for another shot at the title in Libertyville.

Striker Paul Karnstedt wore his new FHFC kit for three weeks straight in the summer as a symbol of his disapproval of the league cancellation. When asked for comment all he said was "IAB." Has has recently been training with his fall club from last season, AC FC Inter Real Dynamo Bombers United FC. Reports from training seem to be positive, as the striker has really come in to his own and found his touch recently as well as a new fine tuned eye for assists. Their first game will be played this upcoming Thursday, and this weekend he will be visiting Indiana University to visit some FHFC teammates as well as cheer on his close personal friend J Leman in the football game. "If J Leman could play for FHFC I am 100% confident that we would be the best club in the world, of all time."

Midfield maestro Mike has reportedly been training very heavily in the offseason in hopes to "bring glory and honor back to the football situation in Libertyville." In an offseason poll on a third-party soccer fan website. Mike was ranked the #1 heartthrob in all of international soccer. When asked for a comment he had nothing to say, but teammate Sean Suarez said that "If Mike did not win this award I [Suarez] would probably have written a formal press statement to address the football nation and inform them of their mistake and my distress."

FHFC defender Simon Bortz has had a busy offseason as well. His offseason hobbies have included mathematics, binge drinking (water, of course,) Pizza Express, and boofing. When asked what boofing was he simply responded with "Billy Joel's We Didn't Start the Fire...HUZZAH!!" Rambo Nomolos (formerly known as FHFC striker Ryan Solomon) has been training in England for the past two months, with US Men's National Team and Fulham striker Clint Dempsey. FHFC standout Steve "GOLD TOE" Ok has been battling with a heavy bout of shin splints this offseason. Similar to Karnstedt he will be playing with AC FC this fall, and will likely net many a goal if past trends carry on to this season and he is able to stay healthy. Lately he has also taken up rock climbing and motorcycling, recently purchasing a leather jacket for when he needs to go in to a controlled slide on his hog. He has also been working 3 jobs and riding a Segway to work every day.

Transfer star Tim Taylor has been very low profile this offseason. An official statement from his agent said that "Tim is taking the offseason very seriously and has been training 6 days a week for 4 hours a day. He will be in peak physical condition and top form should league play resume next summer." As many know, Tim is widely known for his beard growing abilities. There has been a lot of speculation as to whether or not fans can expect to see the beard in '08. Lets just say that we here at FHFCS sure hope so.

Now that steel toed defender Ken Young has officially moved schools, he has taken up training with the gutsy Julian Bulaon. The two have been seen training extensively as well as hitting the local discos. Ken has been approached about potential male modeling gigs, as his Blue Steel and Magnum are near perfection, and Bulaon continues to participate in several different fight clubs and has given up his hopes to play in the J-League in Japan. Who has two thumbs and thinks John Heitinga rocks? FHFC midfielder Shaun Cepican. He recently went on the record saying that he really feels "like the fan violence sham was a cover up for the "red team's" bribe to have the league cancelled for fear of losing their title to an FHFC club that was gaining momentum in the offseason." His offseason has included training sessions with other teammates as well as some cardio. He also went on record saying that he is no longer for the alliance, but is also not for the horde. He has quit gaming to pursue the analysis of financial statements and one day hopes to work for FHFC management after his playing days are over.

AC Milan Swoop For Dolan?

AC Milan are apparently in line to sign FHFC keeper Michael Dolan. The club has Dolan rated as their number one transfer of the summer after losing faith in first choice keeper Dida. Dolan has played down the ongoing reports liking him to the Italian side. While Dolan admires Milan, he maintains they have not made any contact with him.

He told fhfcsoccer.blogspot.com in an exclusive interview: "Milan? What a good club. They are champions of Europe but i have spoken to nobody."

"I only know of what i read in the press but there is absolutely no problems with my contract with FHFC, the manager, or the administration. My contract is clear and i am a committed player."

"It is always flattering when your name is thrown into the mix with big clubs but as far as I am concerned I am at the biggest of them all."

Manager Matt Partain commented on the rising speculation over Dolan.

"I spoke with Mike last week. I let him know that the club is behind him and supports him. We hold him in highest regard. We assured him he was an integral member of the squad and in our plans for years to come."

Partain also stated that AC Milan had not been given permission to speak to Dolan by FHFC.

"Any contact between Milan and Dolan is in violation of FIFA laws because we have not allowed any club to speak with him at this time. If any club were to speak to Dolan, we would report it to the higher authorities."

Dolan made all but one start for FHFC last season and was a main reason the club finished third in the league. His solid play and consistent performances throughout the season led him to be named goalkeeper of the season by the LSCFA.

Star Striker Breaks Foot In Charity Event

FHFC recent signing, Timothy Taylor, broke his toe in a recent charity event held in Libertyville. In a freak turn of events, Taylor accidentally struck his right foot against the leg of the table he was playing on. The blow ended up fracturing a bone in his big toe.

“It’s a true shame,” said Taylor. “I really don’t know what happened. I guess I just got too caught up in the moment and took a wrong step. I am disappointed this happened.”

Taylor had organized a charity ping pong event in order to raise capital for Invisible Children. The organization aids the abused children caught in the turmoil of the Rwanda civil war. The event managed to raise $3.4 million for the charity.

“The event was a success and that is important because Invisible Children is a very important cause to fund,” said Taylor. “I just can’t believe this happened. I put the club first and foremost. I will work hard with the medical staff here at FHFC to get back to the pitch as quickly as possible.”

“We can confirm that FHFC striker Tim Taylor has fractured a bone in his right foot,” the club said in a statement released Saturday. “Tim was taking part in a charity event he felt strongly about and the club will not discipline him. We realize it was a freak accident and these things happen in life.”

“We will place him on a strict recovery program here at the club and we anticipate him back in 6 to 8 weeks time.”

Fan Violence Leads to Cancellation of Season

Fan violence throughout the league has led the LSCFA to cancel the upcoming season. Violence throughout the arenas had been at an all-time high and the deaths of four supporters at a friendly match last week led officials to abandon the season.

“We’ve seen an excessive amount of violence so far this year. The truth is that the safety of the players, officials and fans could not be maintained and we had no choice but to cancel the season,” said league official Scott Jenkins.

The news came as a shock to FHFC and its supporters, who had not been a part of any of the violence.

“It’s definitely a step we wished the LSCFA hadn’t taken,” said Club Chairman Matt Partain. “The whole club is gutted by the LSCFA’s decision. The season was looking so promising. Then again, safety for all is most important and the deaths of supporters as well as a player cannot be ignored.”

The league had seen its violent conduct take a dramatic rise over the last few months, the apex being the murder of Lake Zurich Football Club midfielder Cobiani Jonesiani by unruly fans two weeks ago. The fans rushed the field after Jonesiani had committed an own goal and proceeded to stab him to death with knives they had smuggled in.

Overall 29 supporters of different clubs had lost their lives in the fighting and rioting, in addition to Jonesiani. No FHFC player or fan has been involved in any of the rioting.

“It really isn’t fair to our supporters,” said Vice Captain Sean Javier Suarez. “They’ve been nothing but impeccable and are true role models for the rest of the world. I have to agree with the LSCFA though, the bloodshed was too excessive. One death is one too many.”

The security of stadiums had taken a dip throughout the rioting, with more and more weapons being smuggled into the grounds.

“Our supporters are really what matters here,” said Partain. “If they aren’t safe, then the game isn’t worth playing. I just hope the LSCFA can sort this whole thing out. We all hope that this is just a temporary suspension.”

Intense pressure had been placed on the LSCFA to increase the safety of their league by other footballing associations throughout the world, mainly UEFA and FIFA, as well as the media.

“We want to see that the safety of supporters throughout the world is not sacrificed for the game,” said UEFA President Michel Platini. “Football is important, but it means nothing in comparison to the lives of human beings.”

League officials have stated that an overturn of their decision could possibly occur, but only after an extreme reorganization of security standards throughout the league.

“Our decision is not likely to be overturned,” said Jenkins. “The safety of all has been sacrificed and we need to revamp everything before thoughts of a season can even be considered.”

Ajax 3-0 AZ Alkmaar

AMSTERDAM, May 27 (Eredivisie) - Ajax have joined PSV Eindhoven as Holland's entrants into the Champions League following their 3-0 second-leg play-off win over AZ Alkmaar. Trailing 2-1 from the first leg at the DSB Stadion Henk ten Cate's side scored three second-half goals to claim a 4-2 victory on aggregate at the Amsterdam ArenA. Defender John Heitinga opened the scoring for Ajax in the 55th minute with a contentious goal. Striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar rose in the penalty area to flick on a a free-kick and the ball landed at the feet of Heitinga who appeared to be in an offside position. The assistant referee's flag stayed down and the 23-year-old made no mistake drilling the ball past goalkeeper Boy Waterman and into the bottom-right corner of the net. Ajax's lead was doubled three minutes later when defender Ryan Donk put the ball through his own net. Substitute Tom de Mul's crossed from the right flank and the ball spectacularly deflected off Donk's outstretched leg to lob his own goalkeeper from outside the penalty area. AZ came close to levelling the aggregate scores in the 68th minute with their first real chance after a lacklustre performance. FHFC complete the signing of midfielder Arnold

In what was called the “last big signing of the off season,” by club chairman Matt Partain, Fighting Heitingas Football Club pulled off a near coup in signing influential defensive midfielder Brian Arnold from German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen. The transfer fee is believed to be valued at €19 million ($38 million) with a possible increase to as large as €24 million ($48 million) based on appearances.

“The negotiations have been especially difficult between FHFC, Werder Bremen and Arnold’s agent, Barry Thomas,” said Partain. “They took some time, but we believe we have added an extremely talented and valuable professional to the club.”

Arnold has spent his entire career at Bremen, after signing from American youth side Chicago Sockers FC in 1999, when he was just 12.

“Growing up at Werder Bremen has been a life changing experience,” said Arnold. “I’ve spent 8 great years here working through the youth squads up to the first team and I’ve come to know and love everyone at the club. It’s such a hard decision leaving something that you’ve come to know as your home but I’m ready for a new challenge.”

Arnold emerged into the first team in 2004 when he was only 17. He became a regular in the squad the following campaign and has amassed over 75 senior squad caps for Bremen. During that time he found the back of the net 21 times, many of which were long range efforts.

“Brian is a top class midfielder. He is capable of shielding our defense and building the ball creatively through the middle of the pitch,” said Partain. “We know the transfer came through late, but Brian passed his medical with flying colors. We have no doubts about his fitness or his ability to make an immediate impact on the squad.”

Arnold had spent the past two seasons partnered with German international Torsten Frings in the Bremen midfield, which has seen his game rise to a new level.

“Torsten and I had a terrific bond on and off the pitch,” said Arnold. “He’s one of my best friends and we talk regularly. While it’s sad to leave such a great partnership behind, I’m looking forward to lining up with such creative geniuses like Sean Suarez and Mike . I’ve been keeping up with FHFC for years and those two have really captivated me with their talent and work rate.”

Arnold looks poised to step into the void left by released midfielder/defender Ryan La Force. While he may not possess incredible speed, his vision and creativity on the ball allow him to distribute to all parts of the pitch.

“I have come here to win trophies with FHFC. The league is one of the strongest in the world but the squad has the talent capable of challenging for the title,” said Arnold. “I just can’t wait to get on the pitch with the lads.”

Other FHFC players were excited to be adding another world renowned player to the squad for the upcoming campaign.

“Very rarely does the footballing world come across a player such as Brian,” said midfielder Shaun Cepican. “He sees and understands every little thing that goes on during a match. He can read the situation and pick teams apart, whether he’s moving up on a set piece or marking up an opposing player. He truly is one of the game’s greats at the moment.”

The club held its first full squad practice yesterday at their training grounds. Partain was not present at the time, as he was in Bremen finalizing the terms of Arnold’s contract. He and other teammates are expected at the squad’s charity softball outing this afternoon.

“FHFC is glad to have brought Brian to the organization,” said Partain. “He has been a model professional in the past and loved by the Bremen fans. Our fans are the best in the world and will welcome him with open arms. I’m excited to see him in the kit.”

FHFCSoccer: what is the best part about playing for fhfc? Ken Young: It's really like having a second family

FHFCS: The question everybody wants to know. describe how you feel about your upcoming move to champaign, IL.
KY: Just great, just great. I think the move will really put me in the frame of mind I need to be in to achieve my potential with the team

FHFCS: what would you say are your strengths on the field, and what are some areas you think you need work on?
KY: Well i really think my lack of soccer experience past 4th grade really gives me a clean slate to work on the fundamentals
KY: My game is in its purest state
KY: Dolan yells a direction, I go that way

FHFCS: Aside from soccer, what are some of your favorite off the field activities?
KY: Well lately I've enjoyed sitting on my ass and playing videogames. Sleeping has also been a real source of strength lately. And taking direct sexual instructions from Dolan.

FHFCS: How would you respond to the critics who questioned your maturity on the field following the "jumping over the wall incident?"
KY: I still hold that jumping over the wall is a sweet and harmless activity that should be embraced by all athletes who play in walled arenas. Soccer, hockey, arena football, tennis; if there's a wall, I see no logical reason not to jump over it. Thats really more of a philosophy on life, I think

FHFCS: are there any players you try to model your play after?
KY: no

FHFCS: Who is your favorite superhero and why?
KY: Thats a tough one. Despite playing a spider-man videogame as we speak, I'm gonna have to go with IronMan
FHFCS: Additionally, How excited are you for the IronMan movie?
KY: While his background in engineering gives me hope for the future, I think the main reason is that he shows us that anyone can be a superhero. As long as they have billions of dollars.
KY: I'm pretty pumped, but slightly scared that it will follow suit with movies like the Hulk and daredevil and suck majors nuts.
KY: but I do like that they hired an alcoholic womanizing playboy to play an alcoholic womanizing playboy

FHFCS: some writers have called you the "unsung hero" of the FHFC defense, and some have even gone as far as to call you one of the "most underrated players in the league". what is your response to that?
KY: Haha, I don't think they were actually watching me

KY: Let's just say I hope to make a far bigger impact this season. That all depends on how loud Dolan yells at me though.

FHFCS: Pending the upcoming team bonding trip to Medford, WI, what would you say you like most about the cabin trips?
KY: Well there's the obvious team unity stuff, but mainly I think its an opportunity to really let loose before the upcoming season. its like the Mardi-gras of Adult summer league recreational soccer, with less boobs.

FHFCS: how does it feel to be the oldest member of the team, and at the same time one of the less experienced?
KY: good.

Transfer Rumors Swirling Around FHFC

The rumors have once again circled around Fighting Heitingas Football Club as sources close to the organization have indicated that another star player has been linked to the club.

At this moment, no information on the player has been released to the public, but the club has announced that it will be holding a press conference tomorrow afternoon. It is believed at this time the club will announce its third and potentially final signing of the year.

With the league just on the horizon, the players are rounding into the final leg of their pre-season training.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was predictably over the moon after achieving his priority this season - wrestling the Premiership title back from Chelsea.

The Blues' draw with Arsenal on Sunday handed the title to the Reds, who now cannot be caught by Jose Mourinho's side by virtue of a seven point lead with two games remaining.

"It’s a fantastic day for the club and the supporters, it’s been a fantastic season for them," Sir Alex told Sky Sports. "Everyone associated with the club has been fantastic.

"The Premier League is such a competitive league, the focus on it and the pressure for the big clubs to do well means it is a real priority for us."

When asked about what his players will be doing this offseason once the playing schedule is complete, Sir Alex responded with "Well, I know several of the players would like to tour the other side of the pond and train with American giant, FHFC in Libertyville" and followed with "Cristiano and Rio are especially looking forward to training with those lads. Partain and Mulligan are looked highly upon by our program and especially by Cristiano and Rio. Edwin will also be going to train with Mike Dolan, a player that many know we tried to get when he was just 15."

Although still disappointed by United's Champions League semi-final exit to AC Milan, the Boss conceded that domestic matters have superceded European glory in his agenda.

"Some years ago I always used to have an obsession about winning in Europe," he said. "I think it’s been overtaken by the demands of the Premier League because I think it’s the highest league in Europe now.

"To win it is a big, big achievement. So I suppose it was a priority, but I wish we’d at least got to the final in Athens, I must say."

A flying start to the season kept United at the head of the table for virtually the entire campaign, and Sir Alex pinpointed that opening phase as the main catalyst behind the title triumph.

"There was an emphasis on the fact that over the last two years Chelsea had dominated the Premier League and we had a big job to do to catch them," he said.

"The key to it was having a good start to the season and trying to stay with them and I think we did that very well. The start to the season was very important to us.

"Once we got that we were going to be hard to dislodge, and we kept that lead, and it’s not easy to keep a lead in the Premier League for six months or something like that, especially knowing that Chelsea are on your coattails all the time.

"The really crucial part was the resilience of our players when we started getting all the injuries. At one point we had eight players injured.

When questioned about what kept their squad so resilient, a joyous Ryan Giggs told us that "daily phone calls with Matt Partain, of the FHFC really kept me staying positive. Not only is he a great player on the pitch, but he is also a terrificly nice guy off of it."

"We don’t have as big as squad as Chelsea, so credit to the 13 or 14 players who dug it out every week for us and got the results, I really take my hat off to that bunch of lads. It was fantastic effort by them."

After the cancellation of a planned trip to watch loan defender Gerard Pique in action for Real Zaragoza, Sir Alex revealed that he was forced to tune in for the nervous finale at the Emirates Stadium.

"I went to see my grandson playing, his team had a league decider today and they won their league, so it’s been a great double today," he laughed.

"I went home and watched the racing on telly, and after that I had nothing to do but twiddle my thumbs so I watched the last 15 minutes at the Emirates Stadium and I was in agony.

"Watching that last 15 minutes I thought Arsenal were trying to throw it away! They kept giving the ball away, Chelsea kept driving forward and my heart was in my mouth. But it was a great effort by Chelsea, you have to give them great credit."

United will now lock horns with the deposed title-holders at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday before resuming the rivalry in the first FA Cup final at the renovated Wembley on May 19.

"We’re certainly looking forward to the cup final," said Sir Alex. "Last season when they were saying that they hoped Wembley would be ready for May I was hoping we would get there, if we’d got knocked out then I was praying it wouldn’t be finished.

"Now that it is I’m glad Manchester United are on of the teams competing in it. We’ve a great history in the FA Cup, we’ve won it more times than anyone and I can’t think of a better final than against our main opponent Chelsea.

"It’s going to be a fantastic final with two great teams."

Interview of the week: Simon Bortz

This week we had the great honor to chat with Simon Bortz, a defensive rock for the Fighting Heitingas Football Club. Simon is a raw talent who has elevated his game to new heights since joining FHFC. We here at FHFCsoccer are creaming with anticipation to see how he performs in the upcoming season for the club.

FHFCSoccer: What is your favorite part about playing for FHFC?

Simon Bortz: I would have to say the bond that the FHFC players have that is unique in our league, as well as our fans such as Gary Herzberg and Ian Copeland.

FHFCS: The season is approaching fast. What have you done to prepare yourself for the rigors of the league?

SB: Michael and I have been in a highly competitive soccer league during the off season. Our team reached the Quarterfinals before a heartbreaking loss.

FHFCS: How does being the son of an NFL football legend translate to your game?

SB: It puts a lot of pressure on me knowing that my father is a legend. But if anything, it’s a blessing not a burden. I like being under pressure.

FHFCS: How do you feel being labeled as the “enforcer” of the team and a feared, tenacious player throughout the league?

SB: I feel like my role on FHFC might evolve into something more as I hone my footballing skills. But as of right now, I am happy to play the role of the enforcer.

FHFCS: This season, you’ll have the honor to play along side Terry Mulligan, a down and dirty, no nonsense player much like yourself. How do you foresee your partnership on the field?

SB: I can see a partnership much like that of the “Bash Brothers” in D2: The Mighty Ducks II. Although it’s hard to tell who will be Dean Portman and who will be Fulton Reed.

FHFCS: Every footballer is influenced by the players of the generation before him. Who did you idolize growing up?

SB: It’s hard to say. I’m actually influenced by the players of today, but if I had to choose any player it would be Cristiano Ronaldo or Zidane. It’s a really tough call between those two players that I consider to be among the elite.

FHFCS: There’s a lot of downtime off the training pitch. What do you do to make sure you aren’t bored?

SB: It’s hard to stay occupied. In the mean time, I try my best to stay out of trouble. I have heard rumors of a circulated “fight tape” that was filmed while I was under the influence. To my knowledge none of it ever occurred and it is fabricated.

FHFCS: What’s playing on your iPod right now?

SB: Well, if my iPod was on it would be playing either New Order or Eddie Money most likely.

FHFCS: You’ve been known to have a yell that carries for miles on end. People have likened it to a retarded child with a megaphone. What’s the history behind this yell?

SB: Well there are many variations. One is the Ben Bortz “I just got shrapnel in my leg” yell. The other one is the famous retard yell, which was coined by several members of our team at numerous luncheons.

FHFCS: Could we hear them?

SB: Retard: EH EHH EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

FHFC Sponsor change?

Champaign, IL (AP).

Soccer equipment giants Puma appear to be the latest third party trying to get a piece of the FHFC.

Puma, a leading supplier in soccer shoes, balls, and clothing, has apparently made an offer of over €190 million to have full sponsorship rights for the club. This would include all jerseys, equipment and the logo on the front. Controversy arose almost immediately because of FHFC's current agreement with the Full Moon Family Restaurant (open 24 hours).

These claims surfaced after Puma announced that they will be launching a €50 million product and advertising campaign behind FHFC standout Ryan "Rambo" Solomon, who has been seen wearing all of the latest Puma gear all over the town and on the pitch. There are even over 50 billboards up in the New York, Chicago, and Las Angeles areas. The design of the billboard is seen below.

The initial response from the players and fans are responses of outrage and dismay. Blue-collar striker Paul Karnstedt was quoted saying that "replacing the Full Moon Family Restaurant (open 24 hours) as our sponsor would be similar to Zalinski trying to take over Callahan Auto Parts in the movie 'Tommy Boy,' and nobody wants that. This really ticks me [Karnstedt] off and it's just not right."

One long-time fan, Gary Herzberg, claims that "even though I [Gary] don't know about soccer or what is going on when I see the games, if I see some faggy cat puma on the shirts at games then I will probably freak out and beat up my friend Ian." These types of responses seem to be commonplace from the fans and supporters of FHFC.

Yesterday both Solomon and FHFC released statements to clear things up for everybody.

Solomon:

"Never once have I said that Puma will be the sponsor of FHFC. The media and anti-FHFC sites simply make assumptions to stir things up for the administration and players. That being said, I do want to look good on the pitch and in my life, which is why I like Puma so much. Puma allows me to do this and show off their great product at the same time while I make a good chunk of change. Everyone knows that I am also a poster-boy for Skoal Tobacco products as well. It's the same thing, really. At the end of the day my heart lies with FHFC first and foremost. You can count on that."

Matt Partain and the FHFC administration:

"For Puma to make such claims is downright absurd. The bull-headed management at Puma has no welcome representing the FHFC. To be honest I am appalled by Puma's lack of professionalism and their obvious attempts to use FHFC's success for their own benefit. If they were to have made an initial contact with us it is possible that we may have come to some kind of agreement regarding a partial stadium sponsorship or something similar, but we have already promised (and are honored) to have the Full Moon Family Restaurant (open 24 hours) on the front of our kits.

If Ryan chooses to represent them personally that is fine, seeing as our club has no specific policy on soccer boots. Our overall team sponsorship loyalty is to the Full Moon Family Restaurant (open 24 hours) and their delicious milkshakes and carbetzi omelets. FHFC is a home grown club with home grown talent that wants a genuine home grown sponsor. Next season is the year of the fans and we would never do something so outrageous to upset them."

FHFC Quell Buyout Rumors

Libertyville, IL (AP)

Fighting Heitingas Football Club has played down reports of a potential buyout by the Sultan of Beirut, Amir Muhammed Jazir Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa. Reports indicate that the Sultan has approached the FHFC administration with an offer of £834 million ($1.67 billion) which significantly tops the bid by American business tycoon, Malcolm Glazer, who paid $1.4 billion for a 98% share in Manchester United Football Club in May 2005.

Amir Muhammed Jazir Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa was reported to have persuaded friends and business partners to back the move, which would see him buyout current private owner, Matt Partain. Partain is also the manager and club captain.

“We here at the club note the press coverage regarding Sultan Amir Muhammed Jazir Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa,” said Partain in a news conference Sunday. “While there have been discussions between the two parties, at this time FHFC is not for sale.”

A statement later issued by the FHFC board said that the Sultan had not given sufficient evidence to whether or not he had the funds to purchase the club.

Fans of the club were up in arms when news of the potential buyout surfaced.

“FHFC is a club for the people. Partain was one of us when it was started,” said supporter Ian Copeland. “Having someone come in, completely unrelated to the club and having no idea what it means to the people, and have them start running the show would be a terrible decision.”

“One of the beauties of the team is its homegrown talent,” said Hans Juddy, a follower since the club’s inception. “I fear that a takeover would lead to an influx of foreign players and a disruption of the team’s chemistry. Even though the fans want the best players in the world, we want a cohesive unit. We don’t want to end up like Chelsea.”

Rumors have circulated that upon finalizing the purchase of FHFC, Sultan Amir Muhammed Jazir Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa will replace the entire administration.

“Our objective right now is to keep FHFC American,” said Partain. “In this day and age we’re being misled to think that foreign investors will ride into town with pots of cash for new players. These people only see a business opportunity. It’s a chance for them to make more money. They know nothing about our football, our organization, or what the club stands for and means to people.”

The players on the other hand do not seem to be worried by the growing media buzz.

“It really isn’t any concern of mine,” said striker Paul Karnstedt after a training session. “I leave that up to the administration. I am just trying to stay focused on training, so hopefully at the end of the season; we can bring home some hardware.”

“A takeover? What the guck?” said goalkeeper Michael Dolan.

Partain is not likely to want to let go of the club he built into one of the top sides in the world. “This club means everything to the players, the administration, coaches, the supporters and me. What Sultan Amir Muhammed Jazir Abdulrahman bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa and his partners are offering is very gracious but at the same time, it’s near impossible to part with something so close to you.”

Karnstedt to the Hospital

Champaign, IL (AP).

FHFC striker Paul Karnstedt checked himself in to the local Champaign hospital Sunday evening around 8:00PM after complaining about severe chest pains.

No other information is present at this time, but we will post updates as soon as more information is released.

There is speculation about the cause of the pains. Some anti-FHFC sites are claiming that it is due to alcohol abuse, where as other sources are claiming that there was some sport-related trauma to the chest.

Interview of the Week: Sean Suarez

This week we had the chance to sit down with Sean Suarez, a standout defender for the Fighting Heitingas Football Club. Sean is a well skilled and well rounded player that can play anywhere on the field. We here at FHFCsoccer are thrilled to see what he can do this season for the club and we know the fans are as well!

FHFCsoccer: What is your favorite part of FHFC?
Sean Suarez: Its got to be my teammates. They are such a wonderful bunch. everyone of them brings something to the table and together our team gels to make magic. sometimes i wish i could just sit back and watch us play, its like a work of art.

FHFCS: What do you the most important key to having a successful season, not only as a team but as an individual?
SS: I would say that improving makes anything successful. last season we finished third but improved by leaps and bounds from the beginning of the season. and as an individual its always good to improve.

FHFCS: What are some famous players that you model your form after?
SS: Haha, I get this question all the time! I try to be like Colombian great Carlos Valderrama in the midfield position. I don't always make the score sheet but at least im noticed. When i drop back on defense i try to like roberto carlos in his, prime of course.

FHFCS: Who would you say are the three manliest people in the history of the world?
SS: That would definitely be Jack Bauer, Ron Jeremy and Ghengis Khan

FHFCS: Haha, alright. What are your favorite foods?
SS: NERDS rope, Cadbury eggs , a seasonal candy unfortunately, and of course Salsa Verde doritos always hit the spot.
FHFCS: And what is your favorite beverage to wash down those delectable foods?
SS: Dr. Pepper without a doubt. Nothing is better to wash down food than that sweet liquid gold.

FHFCS: What is your all time favorite soccer goal?
SS: Thats a tough one. I always enjoy a goal by soccer god Frank Lampard but im most impressed with Roberto Carlos' free kick goal against France which defied the laws of physics as far as i can tell.

FHFCS: What one word most describes your style of play on the field?
SS: Cunning. I can see the flow of the game and work around it especially defensively. You have to be cunning to play that way, at leaast i try to be.

FHFCS: You room with FHFC goalie Mike Dolan, how has this affected your offseason?
SS: Its an experience for sure. We clash alot, hes only a keeper and I'm a field player, but i think itll only help on the pitch.

FHFCS: Lastly, what is some advice you would give to someone getting in to soccer?
SS: Don't ever get discouraged. Its a tough game to be good at and you will always get better with practice. Its a great sport and you will really learn to love it.

Milan Star linked to FHFC

Libertyville, IL (AP).

Another scintillating performance by Ricardo Izecson dos Santos, affectionately known as Kaka by his supporters, has done nothing to quell the transfer rumors that have circled him this season. Arguably the best player in the game at this moment, he has been linked to Fighting Heitingas Football Club as well as other prestigious teams, namely Real Madrid and Manchester United. Kaka’s current club, AC Milan, has done its best to ward off pursuers but as the season has progressed, the rumors have gotten stronger and stronger

“I have told potential suitors time and time again Kaka is not on the market,” said gaffer Carlo Ancelotti. “He is still bound by contract with the club until 2011 and we have no intentions of letting him go before that time.”

Kaka has given the press contradicting responses to the press when asked about his future.

“Right now I’m focused on winning the Champions League with Milan,” the striker said after last night’s loss at the Theatre of Dreams. “It’s always an honor and humbling as a player to be linked to teams like FHFC, but I can’t be concerned with what will happen in the following months at this moment.”

FHFC has already brought in two world class players in Terry Mulligan and Tim Taylor for the upcoming campaign, but it has been no secret that Kaka is high on their transfer list.

“We love his pace, athleticism, and ability,” said manager Matt Partain. “Kaka is an incredible footballer and would be welcomed wherever he decides to go. Right now, he is doing very special things in Milan. There’s no doubt we are interested, but if Milan do not let him go, we have a quality team here regardless.”

Kaka earlier in the season had expressed his desire to play along side former Serie A player of the year, Tim Taylor. Rumors of a transfer have only been heightened with Taylor swapping sides from Lazio to FHFC this off season.

“I would love to play alongside Taylor,” said Kaka. “We have different styles and I feel we would mesh well together on the pitch and off it.”

The two have also been seen going to night clubs in Milan together on many an occasion.

Kaka and wife Caroline Celino have also been spotted spending time in Libertyville. They were photographed at Independence Grove Beach last week. When asked about what he was doing in Libertyville, Kaka responded, “I am here spending some time with my wife. We’ve also rented a paddleboat. We’re looking to get away from it all for a few days and be a normal couple.”

When asked if he was looking at moving to Libertyville, Kaka said, “Someday, hopefully, if I’m lucky enough. We love it here. It’s such a wonderful city and wonderful country.”

When coach Carlo Ancelotti was asked about the statements made by his talisman forward, he replied, “As far as I’m concerned, it’s all hearsay. Kaka is committed to this team and this organization. He is who we intended to build this team around and he is the heartbeat. Any chance of him going elsewhere is incorrect.”

FHFC Star to make big move!

Ken Young making the move to Champaign-Urbana

Reports Tuesday are citing that Ken Young will indeed spend next year (and offseasons to follow) in the Champaign-Urbana area and will be attending the University of Illinois. This is a pretty exciting move for both Ken and the Club.

Ken made caps in all but 3 games last season and was an integral part of a successful FHFC defense. Goalie Mike Dolan was quoted last season calling Ken Young "the anchor of the defense. I can count on him to be anywhere at anytime. It's almost as if every tackle Ken makes is a goal-saving or game-winning tackle. He really is just a fantastic player."

The move to CU means several things for both the club and for Ken. For one, Ken will be living near other FHFC players (past and present) such as Paul Karnstedt, Shaun Cepican, Steve Ok, and Julian Bulaon. Hopefully this helps all of the aforementioned players develop and hone their skills better in the offseason. "I know going up against Ken during training will definitely make me a better player. He goes 110% all of the time, and getting around him during practice matches is darn near impossible," said Shaun Cepican when questioned about the move.

Karnstedt seemed equally excited about the move, saying that "I know it will help me develop my skills in the box because he is such a good defender and when you train with the best. . . well theres nothing better for development. Ken Young gives it his all and never EVER complains about anything." The fact that so many FHFC players are excited about this move should really help boost the excitement of the fans for the upcoming season and seasons to come.

Management has released this statement regarding the move:

"We here at FHFC are delighted to announce that Ken Young will be spending his off-seasons at Champaign-Urbana for the next two years. The Management at FHFC have been working tirelessly with Ken and C-U to make this dream a reality. Now that it has been finalized, the club looks forward to Ken developing to a world class defender. He will have the support of Shaun Cepican, Paul Karnstedt and Steve Ok, as they all reside in Champaign-Urbana during the off season. Having multiple players there will allow them to push each other during the rigorous off season training we provide our players with. FHFC Enjoys First Incident Free Week in Months

Matt Partain couldn't help but let go a sigh of relief this morning after his weekly press conference. It was the first time in awhile he didn't have to answer a myriad of questions regarding player suspensions and incidents off the field. And he wasn't complaining. "It is nice that our players have been on their best behavior as of late. I am glad that the message has been sent, and that certain players have cleaned up their acts, but I think it is rather sad that this is a noteworthy 'accomplishment,'" Partain said afterwards. "Right now I was really glad I got to talk a little more about the new transfers that we acquired. The focus now needs to be on training and getting geared up for the season. I will be sorely disappointed in the players if there is another off the field incident."

Partain also said that some of the players who were involved in offseason incidents have been in talks with management, and have received disciplinary action. According to Partain, some have even self-imposed curfews upon themselves in order to avoid further incidents. However, he wouldn't comment any further.

"I am just glad that this is hopefully all behind us. This has been a hard offseason as a manager, but I think it will all pay off in the long run and we become a serious contender. You can't help but be disappointed in some of the events of this offseason, but now is the time to move forward." Partain finished, "On the bright side, at least we aren't the Cincinnati Bengals."

Senior Squad for the 2007 Campaign is Announced

Worcester, MA. (AP)

Manager and Captain Matt Partain announced the Fighting Heitingas Senior Side for this upcoming season.

“We’ve seen a slight shake up in the roster [for the upcoming season] but the nucleus of last year’s team is still intact,” said Partain in an exclusive interview with FHFC. “I am also impressed with our club’s ability to pull in top players from around the world.”

While the squad is slimmer in numbers this year, with the departure of four players from last year’s roster, Partain remains confident in the squad’s ability to challenge for silverware.

“The team is smaller, but as far as talent goes, we’ve taken a great stride forward,” said Partain. “I am also satisfied that our training staff will keep the players in the best shape possible.”

The new transfers included Terry Mulligan and Timothy Taylor. Mulligan has spent the past two years in Spain’s top flight, playing for Sevilla. A tough tackling, no nonsense defender, Mulligan will add immediate support to a backline looking to replace the efforts of released player Ryan LaForce.

“I expect [Terry] Mulligan to adapt quickly to life here at FHFC,” said Partain. “He’s been playing at the highest level in Spain against sides like Real Madrid and Barca. We anticipate fantastic things from him.”

Taylor on the other hand is regarded as one of the deadliest strikers in the entire world after a record-breaking season playing for Serie A side Lazio. A goal haul of 39 over the past season has given him the golden boot, which goes to Europe’s top striker.

“I’m definitely ready for this new challenge,” said Taylor. “I’ve been at big clubs before, but nothing like this. FHFC is second to none. I’m looking forward to wearing the jersey and playing for the supporters.”

The management has refused to divulge transfer fees but reports indicate over €40 million has been spent on the squad this off season.

When asked to comment on the new roster, midfielder Shaun Cepican said "I am yet again amazed at the level of talent [Matt] Partain can bring to the club. I have always admired Mulligan and Taylor for their skill and determination on the soccer field and am thrilled to finally have a chance to play with them. This year's roster really looks like the players will mesh and be in total harmony." He also made mention of a very high level of excitement for team training sessions to begin in May.

With such monumental spending, the management will be expecting an improvement on last year’s third place finish in the league. Sights are set high, and the supporters seem even more anxious for the season to begin in the first week of June.

“I’m not going to say we’re finished with transfers. This is an ever-changing business,” said Partain. “If the talent is available the club will make sure to get it. If we add one or two more players before the end of the transfer period, the chairman will be sure they are of the highest quality.”

Needless to say, the bar has been raised for the upcoming campaign.

Over the past weeks FHFC stars have been seen hanging out with other major sports stars. This is proof that the FHFC is becoming a global player in the game of football. Without further ado,

Sean Suarez was spotted hanging out with Chelsea Striker Didier Drogba, who does not cheat but he cheats sometimes. When asked why these two have crossed paths, Suarez responded by sharing that "Drogs and I have really be come quite close on and off the pitch. We train together and I learn very much from him. He is definitely making me in to a better player and I would like to think I'm doing the same for him." This has all of the Suarez fans out there buzzing about what his form will look like this season. Sean also added that "[Didier] will be attempting to attend at least one or two games in the States this season," which also gives fans something to look out for!

FHFC captain Matt Partain was seen doing a photo press conference for the upcoming FA final with the Cameroon national and Chelsea standout Geremi. The fans were ecstatic to see a matching of an FHFC player with a Chelsea star. When asked about what it was like to meet Geremi, Partain simply responded with, "this man loves life!"

FHFC goalkeeper Mike Dolan was seen partying with four Chelsea stars after their Champion's League hopes stayed alive and they moved on in to the semi-finals. The stars, from right to left, were Didier Drogba, Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, and Andriy Shevchenko. During a short kick around after the match, none of the players, even Lampard, could not score on Dolan.

Partain, Suarez, and additionally Shaun Cepican were all seen at Anfield to watch Chelsea and Liverpool train before their upcoming CL bout on May 1. While the captain and the star defender supported the Blues, Cepican chose to remain in neutral colors and just enjoy watching the professionals do their work. FHFC Stars Excel at off season activities.

Monday marked an important day for several FHFC stars. It was the first annual "Neighborhood Badminton Tourney" that brought in players from all over the world. While many of these international players are on top of the badminton ladders and rankings, Matt Partain and Simon Bortz were hoping to "go in and just compete," said Partain.

They had a rough go of it in the first round of the double elimination tournament, almost losing to national teams from Swahili and Belarus. Late "kill shots," as Bortz likes to call them, kept them in it down the stretch. Once they reached the round of 16 they faced off against Iceland, the winner of three of the four badminton majors the year before.

"We were kind of nervous going in, but all of the sudden, our gym class training at Libertyville High School just came back to me and I found my old form," reminisced Partain after a scintillating defeat of Iceland by 7 points. Things could not go wrong for the FHFC duo, as they cruised to the final four, and eventually the championship.

Simon Bortz enjoys winning as much as the next guy, but was a little bit perturbed that "I [he] couldn't just go get some damn food in between games because the pace of the tournament was just so rigorous. My days as a traveling Yu-Gi-Oh card game player really helped me train for this."

The championship pitted them against the Russians, and in USA Hockey form, they were able to down them by three points. Below is a picture from the post tournament celebration.

I know what all of the FHFC fans out there are thinking.... "I hope this bodes well for the 2007 season!" Let's just say Bortz and Partain will be in fine form and good shape after such extensive (and fuN! LOL) offseason training.

While these two FHFC stars are using Badminton to get in shape, others have their own methods.

Sean Suarez has been touring on a professional karate circuit. I know you might be concerned about any types of physical liability this may lead to, but have no worries. Sean specializes in putting on shows for the fans in between matches. He breaks things. Yep, that's right, just breaks things because he can. "I don't do it to show off, but it does help get the ladies," says Suarez.

Julian Bulaon has been showing off his remarkable limbo skills at tournaments all over the country, notably California. When asked if he had any trips to Poundtown after his new-found limbo abilities, he refrained from comment. It's okay though because while everybody knows Julian is the youngest member of FHFC, he is probably the most awesome.

Mike has been seen on several different television programs in which he has been showcasing his culinary talents. One of Mike's fundamental beliefs about cooking and proper diets is often said on said television programs. "Eat everyday like you have the big game coming up tomorrow." While this quote may seem rather silly to some, Mike and the rest of the FHFC players full understand the importance of a quality diet. "Don't forget to exercise too," added Mike. For this week’s installment of Ten Questions, we caught up with Steve Ok. Ok had a promising preseason, but suffered a shoulder injury, and had to endure an injury-plagued season. He is back on track this year and ready to come back and have a successful season. Here is what he had to say:

FHFCSoccer: What inspired you to pick up soccer and play for FHFC?

Steve Ok: Well, I'm pretty fat, so I figured soccer was a great way to slim down. The World Cup was going on, and there was a great soccer buzz. So many of my friends were joining FHFC also, it was hard to resist.

FHFCS: As many remember, your season last summer was plagued with injuries and shortcomings. How has this affected how you plan to bounce back this season?

SO: Well, I might be training abroad this summer to learn a few more tricks. But if anything, these injuries have made me even more determined to return to my old form. I've also started running and lifting weights regularly, so hopefully I’ll be able to return even better than I was before.

FHFCS: We weren’t aware of this previously undisclosed information about travel plans. Does the team plan to have you out on loan to another club? Will you be training with anybody in particular?

SO: Well right now, I don't know if I will be making a move out of America or not. There is no word yet on what the team would like to play for, but I'm sure getting some international experience would benefit the team in the future. Manchester United has expressed some interest, as well as Reading, and Tottenham. All teams have had positive experiences with Korean players and are looking for more.

FHFCS: Comment on the fan's and fellow players use of the nickname "Gold(en) Toe."

SO: during training one day, I surprised everyone, including myself, by launching some rocket shots. I've never done this in a game situation, though I guess the potential got everyone excited. I'm kind of like (University of Illinois basketball player) Brian Randle in that aspect. I've got athleticism dripping out of my ears, but I can never pull through when it matters.

FHFCS: Describe the "checked in to the boards" incident from last season.

SO: I had just been off the injured list due to a dislocated shoulder, and was either dribbling the ball or running after it on the left side of the field. A big old guy, and I mean that literally, he was kind of big, and he was pretty old, ran up and instead of going for the ball, he went for me. The next thing I knew, I was airborne and went crashing into the boards, and was really fortunate that I didn't reinjure my shoulder.

FHFCS: Wow thank you for all of the great information regarding your footballing status, now, but the fans are itching to get to know the real you as well. What is your favorite color, what is your zodiac sign, relationship status (for the female fans)?

SO: My favorite color is blue, I have no idea what my zodiac sign is, and as for relationship status, I'm single, but if you read up heavily on the zodiac crap, I don't want to talk to you.

FHFCS: What soccer players have you modeled your style of play after? You previously mentioned certain clubs that have Korean standouts, are they possibly on the list?

SO: Well, I'm a huge fan of bad sportsmanship, so guys who throw cheap shots are up there. But then again, I really liked the way Lee Chun Soo played in the World Cup. He was tireless and scored goals and was bombastic on free kicks. All things I’d like to do. However, I'm not really modeling my play after him. So I guess if I model my play after any player, it'd be those 6 year olds who play in those GLSA games on Saturdays. I can beat them up though, so it makes me feel better.

FHFCS: What is it like to live with fellow FHFC teammate Paul Karnstedt? What kind of experience has it been?

SO: It's definitely been a learning experience. He's helped me train physically as he was a cross country runner back in the day. Also, he not only helps me with the physical aspect of the game, but the mental aspect as well. Meaning that I'm always being updated on the latest soccer developments around the world, transfers, goals, results, and whatnot. And this isn't just with soccer. I could probably tell you what half the threads on illiniboard.com are about if you really wanted to know.

FHFCS: what is one piece of advice you would give to the youngsters out there that want to be like you?

SO: If you keep playing soccer and working hard, you'll probably be better than me in a couple days. If you aren't already.

FHFCS: And lastly, it's 2 hours before the game... What are you snacking on / eating??

SO: freshly killed dog

Champions League Predictions

Today AC Milan defeated Bayern Munich 2-0 and Liverpool once again shut out PSV Eindhoven 1-0. Therefore the semifinals are set with Manchester United taking on AC Milan, and Chelsea and Liverpool squaring off in an EPL battle to get to Athens. After today’s exciting Champions League action, we decided to catch up with some of the players, as well as some other athletes, and asked who they thought were going to win it all:

Veteran Defender Ken Young: “I am going to go with Manchester United over Liverpool. Manchester United is a cool name, and Liverpool is a funny name for a town.”

Up and coming Midfielder Shaun Cepican “I see United wining over Milan 4-3, and Chelsea over Liverpool 2-1. United will triumph in the final, 2-1”

Captain Matt Partain “10-0 United in the final. It doesn’t matter who they play. . . GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED!!!"

Goalkeeper Mike Dolan: “I love Italian teams, so Milan over Chelsea. Chelsea has an Italian player or something right?”

Two Time National Basketball Champ Joakim Noah: “Man United gonna do it BIG. All day, all night, you guys have no idea what I’m talking about while I’m sayin’ that, BUT MY RED DEVILS KNOW WHAT I’M TALKIN’ ABOUT. MANCHESTER KNOWS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!”

Controversy Strikes Again!

Reports late Tuesday even have told us that another FHFC star, Mikewas seen by several witnesses while he was entirely intoxicated. Everything was fine just fine until Mike had a run in with the police and was booked for public urination, disturbing the peace (conflicting reports say that he either threw a brick through someone's windshield or beat up 17 people), and trespassing on private property.

He has not yet been available for comment.

Mike developed quite an FHFC following last season as he proved to be quite a finisher and had many near misses on shots. He's a star through and through.

Many fans and different sites say that this is all just a sham and that no controversy occurred regarding Mike. As soon as we have a statement from the footballer we will fill you in on the true stories. The only photos received were believed to be tampered with, thus nobody can really identify if that is the FHFC star. Here are some more of them:

Yes folks, this was indeed a farce of an article. After all, everyone knows Mike is the model of class and one of the most respected players in the world. If you disagree then I, and probably any other FHFC fan, will fight you.

The last thing the team needs right now is bad press. The Dolan scandal brought out some harsh feelings towards the club and the club and its fan are doing all they can to stay positive and represent FHFC in an acceptable manner.

FHFC Star in the Middle of Controversy

FHFC star Mike Dolan and three unknown friends are in the midst of scandal after spending a night in a hotel with six prostitutes.

It was revealed on Monday that the player and friends had been fined after indulging in a wild party following the team's signing of its new sponsoship. But the full extent of the revelry has only just emerged.

A female journalist broke the story after she had visited the hotel room herself as an autograph hunter. Players 'drank and hugged prostitutes' while she spoke to one of Dolan's mates at the room door. Dolan managed to get the girls into their hotel by telling team officials that the girls were 'autograph hunters'. They also claimed they had been celebrating Dolan's birthday.

Dolan apologised for his actions at a press conference. He said: 'We have been correctly punished. We are very sorry.' However, he said he had a 'clear conscience' when asked about the presence of the prostitutes.

His girlfriend, [name withheld], may have a few additional questions. She said: said: 'I have read what was in the papers. All I will say is no comment.' His three friends are actually married. 'Because the celebration was conducted in an inappropriate way, which does not fall in line with the behaviour of FHFC members, the whole team was punished by a one-million-crown fine,' the LV FA said in a statement. Coach Matt Partain was quoted by news agency CTK as saying it was the worst disciplinary offence he had experienced and that it briefly made him consider resigning. Tabloid daily Sip reported on Monday that the four men had held a party in a room at the Holiday Inn hotel until at least 5.30am. Dolan will be responsible for the whole fine.

We have yet to hear an official statement from the club, but it does look like action will be taken.

Sponsorship Agreement Announced!

Finally it's been announced whose logo will be on the front of the new FHFC kits!

This weekend, the administration and several players of FHFC signed an agreement with the Full Moon Family Restaurant (open 24 hours) for a 2007/08 sponsorship deal.

The team entered a one year deal with the Restaurant and the terms of the contract are to remain undisclosed to the public.

Judging by FHFC's reactions, the buzz around training camps and administrative offices seems to be high and the excitement for the upcoming season has never been greater!

Forward Says Comments "Misinterpreted"

Tuesday afternoon FHFC player Paul Karnstedt was quoted as saying controversial comments about not being a team player. Tuesday night we were able to contact him and he issued this statement via teleconference:

"I will confirm that I did say the words that were quoted in the earlier report, however they were grossly misinterpreted. The tone in which I said the comments was lost along the way, which allowed for my comments to be completely misunderstood and skewed. I apologize for putting myself in a position to be misinterpreted, and I hope this can all be put behind. Anyone who has ever played with me will confirm that I am definitely a team player. I would sacrifice it all on the pitch for my team to succeed. It is unfortunate that this incident has planted a seed of doubt in some minds, but I guess that means I will just have to go prove myself on the pitch."

Karnstedt also added he had discussed the incident with club officials, and that he believed the situation had been cleared up.

*Reporters caught up with Shaun Cepican, an FHFC midfielder, as he was browsing magazines at a news stand. While Shaun wasn't available for too much commentary, when asked how he felt about the situation regarding teammate Karnstedt he said, "hopefully Paul and the club are able to see things from the same perspective and come to some kind of mutual ground." Just as he boarded a crosstown bus, Shaun added, "one of my favorite things about the FHFC is the tight-knit bond between players, captains, and management and to see that in jeopardy hurts a little bit."

Several players of the FHFC have reported to fhfcsoccer that they will indeed be enjoying the Champion's League football matches today on television. While we all wish John Heitinga was playing in these games himself, hopefully everybody realizes that this will help out the players of FHFC.

Johnny Heitinga was bitten by sharks between 2 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. Saturday on St. Lucie County beaches.

As many may or may not know, Johnny Heitinga is a professional soccer player that plays for the Holland International Team as well as Ajax Amsterdam. He was in the States on vacation. As of now he is in critical condition and it is unknown whether or not he will ever be able to play professionally ever again.

10 Questions with Matt Partain, FHFC Captain

A new feature at FHFCSoccer is Ten Questions. Each Friday we will conduct an interview with one of the players on the team. For the first installment of Ten Questions we sat down with
last year's leading goal-scorer, and co-captain of FHFC, Matt Partain:

FHFCSoccer: what made you want to start up the FHFC?

Matt Partain: Well, I love soccer, and I love playing it. I really missed it last year, so I looked for a way to play it. I found out we could compete in a summer league, and the reception to
the idea of forming a team was great, so we started the club. We hade a hard time thinking up a name for the team, but someone suggested we name it after Johnny Heitinga. He was the
favorite of a lot of our players after his inspirational performance in the 2004 Euro Cup, so we figured it would be appropriate to name the team after him.

FHFCS: What made you want to be #10? How did the generalizations regarding what a #10 needs to contribute to the team affect your choice?

MP: There are so many different meanings for different numbers in soccer. I never was the pure goal scorer that an #9 would require nor was i just a pure distributer people find in a #7. I
was a player that could pick out passes and still create for himself and that's what a #10 does, he's a total player and that requires playing for his teammates most of all.

FHFCS: What are some of the things you enjoy doing off the pitch?

MP: The biggest thing about staying passionate about soccer is making sure you don't overload yourself and burn out. When I'm away from the pitch and the training grounds I like to enjoy life...go biking get in touch with nature ...paint large scale murals and of course spend time with friends and family, they mean the most to me

FHFCS: How did your experience with the basketball team Big Red affect your footballing career?

MP: Big Red taught me to most of all to be a team player. Nothing can be accomplished on the field whether you have 4 or 10 teammates along side you. Teamwork is essential to success.
It makes even the most average players do incredible things and Big Red epitomized that

FHFSC: Do you feel like the stigma of being a Wildcat football player and a Division One athlete affect your play on the pitch?

MP: It puts more pressure on me to perform because people have such high expectations for both DI athletes and Wildcat Football players. I love pressure and I thrive on it. At times, the
stereotypes are frustrating but that's why I play soccer, to breaks the mold of being a football player and shows people I'm not a meat head like my other teammates.

FHFCS: What's your favourite part of playing for FHFC?

MP: There are two aspects of FHFC that are my favorite. First, playing with my teammates. I respect and admire each of them and am honored to play along side them. When they
succeed on the pitch, it brings me so much joy. Secondly, the fans. they go through so much to make it to our matches to support us. They are by far the best supporters in the world.
I've played all over the world and i've never seen such passion.

FHFCS: We would like to change the pace a little bit and ask some fun questions. What's your favorite color? food? brand of shoes? band? least favorite band? favorite candy?

MP: I would have to say my favorite color is Red. My favorite food is anything from the Full Moon Cafe breakfast menu. My favorite shows are Nike Mercurial Vapor III's. My favorite
band is Fall Out Boy. My least favorite band is the Rolling Stones, and my favorite candy is carmel covered marshmallows.

FHFCS: What are your top 3 favorite movies and your least favorite 3?

MP: Top Three? Hmm that's tough. I would have to say The Warriors, Pumping Iron, and A Goofy Movie. My three least favorite would probably be Fight Club, Battlefield Earth, andPirate's of the Caribbean.

FHFCS: Who would you say are your biggest footballing influences?

MP: My favorite player growing up was David Beckhman. I have always cheered for Manchester United, and my other favorites are Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand. I also enjoy the play of Joe Cole, Fransesco Totti, and especially Frank Lampard.

FHFCS: And finally, what do you think we can expect from the lads this year?

MP: Well we have a very young team, and we made some great strides last year. We were playing many players who had little to no experience, and even then we still played very well.

The way we finished our season last year was very encouraging, and I am very confident we will keep improving and we can compete for a championship this year. I am really looking

forward to seeing what all of our players can bring to the table after a good off-season.

FHFCS: Matt Partain, thank you very much for sitting down to chat with us. We are looking forward to watching you and the rest of the team play. Good luck.

Offseason updates!

Well the idea of the blog seems to be successful as of right now, so I'll throw in a few offseason news headlines as well as some other rumours that have been floating around the tabloids regarding Libertyville's favorite football club.

Closed training sessions began today at UIUC. Two FHFC players were there and were joined by several guest players. According to reports it was quite a successful day.

To clear up the kit rumours: FHFC will indeed have new kits this summer. As soon as a photo of a prototype exists you can find it right here on fhfcsoccer. From what I can tell the fans right now, it is definitely something to get excited about.

Two notable FHFC stars, Mike and Simon Bortz have reportedly been honing their skills in an outdoor league at IU.

Two other important FHFC players [names withheld as of this time] have actually been training with real soccer players and play on a real team. Be excited to see what kind of stuff they bring to the pitch this season.

Stay tuned for more updates and things will be constantly added to the site. I'm working on getting a photo gallery right now and possibly a John Heitinga bio section of the site.
